After your muscles have relaxed from a night’s sleep in one of our plush rooms, the urban retreat continues inside The Sofia’s 24-hour yoga studio and Health Center. The Harkishan Yoga Studio features audio and video surround sound, yoga mats and an on-call yoga instructor. Guests looking to get their hearts pumping may spend time with an on-call personal trainer, top-line Star Trac cardio equipment, free weights and Hoist strength training equipment inside the 24-hour health center.
Cindy Aaker - Issa Certified Fitness Center
Because fitness had always played a huge part in Cindy’s passion for a healthy life, it seemed like a natural career choice. Six years ago, after moving to San Diego, she started her career in the fitness industry. Cindy is certified by the International Sports Science Association as a Certified Fitness Trainer and is well versed in a number of different training techniques including: Kwondo-Strike, Boxing, BOSU, Body Weight Training and Stretch. Cindy has worked as the Fitness Director at an award winning amenities gym in downtown San Diego, does in-home fitness training throughout San Diego and also works as a fitness model and spokesperson on television.
Cindy now runs her own fitness company “Inertia Fitness”. She has not only adopted Newton’s First Law as the name of her company, but as her life philosophy as well.

Personal Fitness Coach
Away from your usual routine and need a little help staying on track while in San Diego? One of our talented, capable and inspiring fitness coaches would be excited to meet with you for some one-on-one exercise in the Sofia's innovative fitness room. Whether you are a beginner, intermediate or competitive athlete, we can help you maintain and even improve your fitness level while away from home.
60 min: $110 (Individual)
The Pilates method refers to a series of conditioning exercises that combine stretching, elongating, strengthening and breathing. This form of exercise has become popular for its low stress approach to building strength, increasing flexibility and its emphasis on balance and posture. These carefully executed movements can help you to become more aware of strengths and weaknesses in your body, achieve greater balance, coordination and symmetry and help you to avoid injury in day-to-day activities. Enjoy one-on-one instruction or group instruction by appointment only.
60 min: $110 (Individual)
Available Saturdays and Sundays, the Sofia offers a guided walkabout through the Historic Gaslamp Quarter and Bayfront. This is included in their stay. The tour leaves from the hotel lobby at 9 am sharp.
The facility boasts top of the line "Hoist" fitness equipment. A Four stack composed of: Chest press and Fly, Seated Row, Lat Pull Down, Leg Press and Standing Leg Curl. As well as pulley systems with grip change-outs for multiple arm and shoulder exercises.
Excellent cardio equipment is available. Medicine balls of multiple weights, Dumbbells up to 50 lbs each, and Curl bars with adjustable weights. BOSU's are available for balance training, and Balance balls are available for core work.
Jump ropes and Exercise bands are also available for guest use. And of course we have mats available for stretching. If Yoga is more your speed, our Yoga Studio is equipped with Mats, Straps, Blocks, Bolsters and Blankets. Great sound system and music available.
As part of the guests stay, The Sofia offers Urban Cruisers along with helmets and locks on a first come basis. Available between 7 am and 7 pm. Maximum of 3 hours only.
Any cancellation must be received within 4 hours of your appointment. Any late cancellations will incur a 50% cancellation fee. A full fee will be imposed for a no show client.
As a courtesy to your therapist an 18% gratuity will be automatically added to your bill.
Fitness packages are non transferable, non refundable and non exchangeable.
Guests who have any medical issues are advised to consult a physician before signing up for fitness services. Please report any medical conditions to your instructor. Liability waivers will be provided, and are to be signed before any fitness activity is performed.
